Watch: Drew Brees Shares Incredible Message with Sons After Breaking Peyton Manning's Record
Moments after one of the biggest moments of what will be a Hall of Fame career, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had some great advice for his four young kids.
“I love you guys so much. You can accomplish anything in life if you’re willing to work for it, all right?” Brees said to his boys Baylen, Bowen and Callen, and daughter Rylen, moments after breaking the NFL record for all-time passing yardage.

The 39-year-old Brees would know. A second-round draft pick out of Purdue in 2001 by the Chargers, Brees played five years in San Diego before signing with the Saints in 2006.
San Diego drafted Philip Rivers in 2004, the same year that Brees led the Chargers to a 12-4 record. Brees was named Comeback Player of the Year and made the Pro Bowl, but a torn labrum the following season in his right arm resulted in San Diego going with Rivers and Brees going to New Orleans.
The rest, as they say, is history. Brees led the Saints to a win in Super Bowl XLIV and became one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
With 2:46 left in the first half, Brees made it official, throwing a 62-yard touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith to set the all-time mark for passage yardage.

With that pass, Brees surpassed Peyton Manning’s 71,940 yards. Brees went on to throw for 363 yards and three touchdowns in Monday’s 43-19 win over the Redskins. He now stands alone at the top with 72,103 career passing yards — and counting.
The game was stopped for a few minutes as the ball he threw to Smith was given to a representative of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where it will be enshrined. That’s when Brees’ wife Brittany and their kids came over to share the moment with him.
And the quarterback wasn’t the only one giving advice to family members. Brittany Brees told her husband to go win the game, which he did.
Tributes immediately started pouring in from throughout the sports world on social media, including one humorous one from the man he beat, Manning.

Manning is shown cutting tomatoes when he hears the news.
“Drew for 1,000 days I held the record for passing yards in the NFL and I’ve gotta tell you, it was the greatest 1,000 days of my life. And thanks to you that’s over now and you’ve ruined that for me,” Manning said with that dry sense of humor. He went on the congratulate Brees.
“In all seriousness, congratulations on the record. Drew. You’ve done it the right way. All of your hard work and dedication have paid off,” said Manning.
Congratulations to @Saints @drewbrees the @NFL new all-time passing leader! In 2010 I presented him with the @SInow Sportsman of the year award. Well done Drew! pic.twitter.com/2gpywIQYSV

Brees threw three touchdown passes in the game to give him 499 in his career. He is now bearing down on another Manning record — career touchdown passes. Manning has 539, while Brett Favre is second with 508 followed by Tom Brady at 500 and Brees at 499.
Congrats @drewbrees, proud to passed by a guy like you. All the best. https://t.co/CMd2G4nTZZ

Brees and Brady both have a chance to surpass Manning sometime in the next couple of years.
Congratulations to a great player and a class act.
