Only Player To Score Super Bowl LIII TD Has 3 Perfect Words: 'God Is Good'
There’s no point in sugarcoating it.
Unless you’re a big fan of punts, missed field goals and almost zero red-zone snaps, Super Bowl LIII was a snore for many people.
New England Patriots fans, whose team won 13-3 over the Los Angeles Rams, probably enjoyed the game the most, but that has far more to do with the end result than anything that actually happened on the field.
But there was one offensive spark in the game and it belonged to Patriots rookie running back Sony Michel.

Not only was it the only touchdown of the entire game, it was the only red-zone snap for either team.
Michel finished the game with 94 rushing yards on just 18 carries and the aforementioned touchdown. He very much had a strong case to be the Super Bowl MVP (the award eventually went to the equally deserving Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman.)

A rookie season doesn’t get much better than the one Michel had.
Sure, there have been plenty of rookies who have put up better stats, but how many can claim that they are the featured running back for a Super Bowl champion right out of the gates?
Given all of that, not a single person would’ve blamed Michel for taking to social media to tout his own season, or that of his team’s.
He took a decidedly different approach with three perfect words.

“God is good,” Michel simply wrote on Twitter following the Patriots’ sixth Super Bowl championship.
It’s an awesome message that many would like to hear from professional athletes more often, but it’s not exactly a surprise for Michel. He’s never been shy about his faith.
“Without Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, there is none of this,” Michel explained leading up to Super Bowl LIII. “We get all this glory, but the glory is not for us, it’s for Him. We do this for Him. That’s kind of my purpose. So really, none of this matters to me.”
Those are some powerful and wise words that belie the fact that Michel is only 23 years old.
It’s astounding, in hindsight, to think that Michel’s selection in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft was actually met with some resistance by New England fans.
Many were clamoring for the Patriots to select ex-Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson to be Brady’s heir apparent late in the first round.
Based on the Super Bowl win, his faith, his attitude and his production, it seems like it’s safe to say the Patriots front office made the right choice.
