Peyton Manning takes stage and sings Johnny Cash for charity

Share

Peyton Manning may have retired from professional football, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the spotlight.

Late last week, Manning and his wife, Ashley, co-hosted an annual fundraiser for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent.

During the Celebration of Caring Gala, the former Broncos and Colts quarterback took to the stage to join country music star Thomas Rhett.

Together, the pair performed the 1995 hit “That Ain’t My Truck,” which was co-written and recorded by Rhett Akins, Thomas’ father.

Fortunately for Manning fans, at least one person captured video of the performance.

But Manning wasn’t done. Not by a long shot.

Do you think Peyton Manning is a good singer?

When he was done singing with Akins, Manning sang the Johnny Cash song “Folsom Prison Blues” all on his own, according to the Indy Star.

Manning has something of a reputation when it comes to performing country music songs.

In years past at the annual gala, he has joined Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley and Cole Swindell on the stage.

And it wasn’t the first time that Manning has sang Johnny Cash either.

In late July 2017, Manning was spotted at a bar in Ireland singing “Folsom Prison Blues.”

Later, Manning posed for pictures with fans.

The former quarterback may have a love for country music, but he likely has no plans to pursue a career in that field.

With that being said, many people are wondering what Manning will decide to do next. He reportedly turned down an offer from ESPN to replace Jon Gruden in the “Monday Night Football” booth, but Fox Sports is also said to be pursuing Manning to provide analysis for its new Thursday Night Football package.
