Did Nike Just Accidentally Reveal Kevin Durant's Next Destination?
Though the NBA champions for the 2018-19 season have yet to be crowned, it’s already clear what the major offseason storyline is going to be: Where will Kevin Durant sign?
The Golden State Warriors superstar has been rumored to be headed to the Knicks and the Clippers, among other destinations, once his contract expires.
There are also plenty of people who believe Durant will re-sign with the Warriors.
And speculation that Durant will stay put has only grown after Nike recently released a new T-shirt that appears to assume where he’ll be next season.
The Nike shirt, called the KD Nike Dri-FIT, says “Stay True” on the front.
On the back, it lists every stop that Durant has made on his basketball journey, similar to a concert T-shirt.

It starts in Fort Washington, Maryland, where he played high school ball at National Christian Academy.
It goes on to include his other stops: Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, where he played at Oak Hill Academy; Rockville, Maryland, where he played at Montrose Christian School; Austin, Texas, where he played for the University of Texas; Seattle, where he played for the SuperSonics; Oklahoma City, where he played for the Thunder; and finally Oakland, where he currently plays for the Warriors.
The last entry is the one that has fueled speculation.
It says San Francisco, California, which is where the Warriors will be playing at the start of next season in the new Chase Center.
Some fans have seized on this as a hint that Durant will be staying with the Warriors.
So, does Nike know something we don’t?
Probably not, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
“Here’s what I know from the LeBron [James] free agencies. Nike sets up marketing plans for all scenarios,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s “The Jump” on Tuesday, ClutchPoints reported.
“They had a scenario where LeBron was going to stay in Cleveland or go to L.A,” Windhorst said.
“They had a scenario where he was going to stay in Miami or go to Cleveland. I have no idea what this means, but just because Nike does a marketing campaign doesn’t mean that Kevin briefing them on his plan.”
The shirt, by the way, is listed as “sold out” on the Nike website.
The Warriors, meanwhile, are preparing for Game 3 of the NBA Finals at home on Wednesday night against the Raptors.
Durant, who has not played since the second round of the playoffs, has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game.
