NFL Player Arrested After Drunken Incident in Nashville
With their final pick of the third round of the NFL draft, the Houston Texans selected tight end Kahale Warring out of San Diego State.
Warring may be the Texans‘ tight end of the future, but their tight end of the present, Ryan Griffin, also had an eventful Friday night.
Griffin was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee, after police said he drunkenly punched out a window in a hotel of the draft host city, WKRN-TV reported.

“We are aware of the incident regarding Ryan Griffin,” the Texans said in a statement to WRKN. “We are gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”
Griffin faces charges of public intoxication and vandalism over $1,000 for what police say he did at Hotel Indigo on Union Street in downtown Nashville.
Officers responded to a call close to midnight of a disorderly person. Hotel security had followed Griffin throughout downtown after the window breakage.
When officers encountered Griffin, they said, they could essentially see the evidence that he broke the window as his left hand and fingers were bleeding.
Griffin could have merely been cited, but police decided to arrest him for his own safety as he appeared to be intoxicated and unsteady.
His bond was set at $1,750, the Tennessean reported, and he was released from jail early on Saturday.
A friend of Griffin’s said he had been overserved throughout the night, according to WKRN.
From the timing of Griffin’s arrest, the incident occurred just hours after the Texans drafted Warring.
You can draw whatever conclusions you want from that, but Griffin is entering the last year of his contract.
A court date in the case has been set for May 31.
Apart from Warring, the Texans other draft picks Thursday and Friday were offensive tackle Tytus Howard from Alabama State, cornerback Lonnie Johnson Jr. from Kentucky and offensive tackle Max Scharping from Northern Illinois.
