Watch: Philadelphia Fans Deliver Ultimate Embarrassment to Boston Fans at Fenway Park

Share

Boston sports fans are still stinging from the Patriots loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LII, and Monday night, Philly fans poured salt in the wound.

In the top of the eighth inning at Fenway Park, the Phillies fans in the house started an Eagles chant before it was quickly drowned out by boos from the Boston faithful.

Ouch.

The Eagles’ 41-33 upset of the Patriots left a bad taste in the mouth of New England sports fans. The Pats were not only favored, they were going up against a backup quarterback in Nick Foles.

Foles shredded the Pats defense and was named MVP.

Pats fans have spent the off season questioning the move by Pats coach Bill Belichick to bench former All-Pro cornerback Malcolm Butler.

Will the Phillies make the MLB playoffs?
Belichick called it a football decision at the time, but when your defense is getting torched, fans were left wondering about the football logic of leaving one of your best defenders on the sidelines.

The Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy peppered Belichick last week at the opening of training camp with questions on why he benched Butler.

The responses — or lack thereof — were pure Belichick.

As for the Sox, they exacted some revenge by beating the Phillies 2-1 in 13 innings.

Catcher Blake Swihart hit a walk off ground-rule double to score Eduardo Nunez for the game winner.

Both the Red Sox and Phillies are leading their respective divisions. The Sox have the best record in baseball at 75-33 while the Phillies lead the NL East by a half game over the Braves at 58-48.
