Watch: Peltola Calls for Own Prosecution in Damning Resurfaced Video, as Fake Dan Sullivan Trick Threatens to End Her Campaign
Former Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola, a Democrat who’s running for the U.S. Senate, is under fire for remarks she made in August in which she called for political operatives who “lie or mislead the electorate” to be charged.
The remarks went viral on social media Wednesday courtesy of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which published a video that showed her speaking at what appeared to be a town hall gathering in Alaska.
“It should be a criminal offense to lie or mislead the electorate,” Peltola said in the clip.
As of Thursday afternoon, the clip had been viewed over 500,000 times.

Peltola’s critics have seized on the clip to lambaste the Senate candidate and suggest that she herself deserves to be charged and prosecuted.
“By her own standard, she just indicted herself!” CNN political commentator and GOP operative David J. Urban wrote on the social media site X.
“Turn yourself in, Mary Peltola,” conservative Seattle radio show host Jason Rantz added.
The calls for her to be indicted appeared to be based on a Wednesday report from The New York Times that accused Peltola’s campaign of having orchestrated a secret effort starting in 2025 to recruit any Alaskan named “Dan Sullivan” to enter the race.
The goal was allegedly to recruit a “spoiler” candidate to intentionally split the Republican vote and confuse voters who were intent on voting for the rightful Republican candidate, incumbent Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan.
NYT confirms that aides associated with Alaska Dem Senate candidate Mary Peltola spent months recruiting other candidates, including one named Dan Sullivan, to try to confuse voters and take votes away from incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan.

Peltola’s campaign has denied the legitimacy of The New York Times’ reporting, while Dan J. Sullivan — the “spoiler” candidate who is now running in the Senate race — has maintained that he ran of his own accord.
However, even typically liberal establishment media outlets like CNN have cast doubt on Peltola’s denial.
“The New York Times article was based on interviews with 12 people, they said, who participated in or were told of this plan or the would-be candidates that the team tried to recruit,” CNN host Kaitlan Collins noted in remarks made late Wednesday to Democratic Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy.

“It’s not like they just had one person saying this. It was a pretty deeply sourced report about the lengths they went to to try to get other Dan Sullivans on the ballot,” she added.
“I mean, would you like it if another Chris Murphy ran on the ballot?” she then asked Murphy.
Murphy responded by arguing that President Donald Trump was the real story.
CNN: The New York Times interviewed 12 people…It was a deeply sourced report about the lengths Mary Peltola’s campaign went to get other Dan Sullivans on the ballot.
CHRIS MURPHY: “The underlying story here is that Donald Trump…”

Speaking of the president, Trump posted a comment on Truth Social late Wednesday about The New York Times’ reporting.
“CROOKED ELECTION IN ALASKA!” his comment read.
In remarks later made to the press, he called for Peltola to be prosecuted.
“We caught them cold, and Mary Peltola should resign from the race,” he said, according to USA Today. “I think she should be prosecuted criminally for what she did, and I think that the people that participated with her should.”
