Watch This 'Embarrassed Liberal' Tell Audience Why She'll Vote for Trump Next Time

Share

There are plenty of reasons why people convert from liberalism to conservatism, some of which are ugly. Irving Kristol once described a neoconservative as being “a liberal who has been mugged by reality.”

Sadly, reality can come in the form of a dead child — dead because of the opioid crisis that has swept America.

That’s what happened to this mother, a self-described “embarrassed liberal” who now supports President Donald Trump because of his stand on the border.

The video comes from a rally in the St. Louis area on Saturday in support of border security, hosted by the Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft.

Hoft, the emcee, told the audience that the mother, named Terry, was a gardener who lost her son to a drug overdose.

“I want to start by saying I did not vote for Trump,” the woman said.

“Will I vote for Trump the next time? Yes,” she said, eliciting cheers.

“I am an embarrassed liberal, and what started me … was the opioid crisis, because my reflection on my son Jason. Donald Trump did what Barack Obama didn’t do, what Clinton didn’t do, what Bush didn’t do: He declared an opioid crisis.

“The headlines read, ‘Trump declares opioid crisis, allocates no funds.’ That’s not his job. He did his job. Throw it to Congress. They figure it all out. But I thought, ‘What are they talking about? This man just did a great thing.’

Do you think President Trump can solve the opioid crisis?

“You have your drugs coming in from the borders along with your illegal immigrants,” she added.

“I am very much in favor of a diversified country. One of my best friends is Bosnian. We are lucky to have him. He’s a proud American.”

However, as she pointed out, he “did it the right way.”

She discussed a conversation she had with a veteran who said “we need that wall. Other countries protect their borders.”

The emcee of the event then noted that she had lost a son and had another son “struggling with the same issue.”

When she took the microphone again, she said “this is not a pity party, because I speak for many, many, many people.” She added her husband was a veteran who shot himself because of post-traumatic stress disorder from Vietnam and mentioned veterans’ issues as another concern she had.

These, indeed, are the stories we don’t hear about. They’re also the stories the Democrats don’t want to hear about.

Just last week, when the Trump White House tried to have a briefing on border security, they interrupted it before it could begin.

And they wonder why so many Americans believe we need the border wall.
