Trump's DHS Goes Scorched Earth on Migrant Caravan, Their Lawlessness Will Not Be Tolerated
Despite a reportedly rocky relationship with the rest of the Trump administration, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen has come out with a fiery statement condemning the recent violence at the borders.
It’s an interesting move, considering that one of the points of contention between President Donald Trump and Nielsen is the former’s hard line stance on immigration.
But to Nielsen’s credit, she came out with a fury and blasted the violent migrants who physically assaulted U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents at the San Ysidro port of entry on Sunday.
This AM, @CBP was forced to close the #SanYsidro POE to ensure public safety in response to a large # of migrants seeking to illegally enter the US. They attempted to breach legacy fence infrastructure along the border & sought to harm CBP personnel by throwing projectiles @ them

.@DHSgov will not tolerate this type of lawlessness & will not hesitate to shut down POEs for security reasons. We’ll seek to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who destroys federal property, endangers our frontline operators, or violates our sovereignty.

#CBP along with other #DHS, federal, state & local law enforcement, & the @DeptofDefense, have a robust presence along the SW Border and at our POEs. We remain in close contact with Mexican authorities and are committed to resolving this situation safely in concert with them.

“This AM, @CBP was forced to close the #SanYsidro POE to ensure public safety in response to a large # of migrants seeking to illegally enter the US,” Nielsen said in her first tweet. “They attempted to breach legacy fence infrastructure along the border & sought to harm CBP personnel by throwing projectiles @ them.”
Look, whether you think immigrants should never be allowed into the country or they should be allowed freely, I’d hope that we can all agree that it’s never OK for them to physically assault American border officers.
Throwing “projectiles” at someone is deplorable behavior regardless of who is throwing them and who is being thrown at.
Nielsen continued her tweet storm, condemning “lawlessness.”
“.@DHSgov will not tolerate this type of lawlessness & will not hesitate to shut down POEs for security reasons,” Nielsen continued. “We’ll seek to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who destroys federal property, endagers our frontline operators, or violates our sovereignty.”
That last bit is of particular importance.
Liberals and far leftists seem either oblivious or willfully ignorant of the simple fact that secured borders are key to a sovereign nation.
Last I checked, America is a sovereign nation. If borders were not integral to sovereignty, maps and globes would just show monochromatic landmasses with no lines denoting separate countries.
“#CBP along with #DHS, federal, state & local law enforcement, & the @DeptofDefense, have a robust presence along the SW Border and at our POEs,” Nielsen concluded on Twitter. “We remain in close contact with Mexican authorities and are committed to resolving this situation safely in concert with them.”
From all reports, Trump still doesn’t seem particularly enamored with Nielsen. But if she continues to stick up for border patrol officers, maybe she will last a bit longer than some originally thought.
