Transgenders Learn Harsh Lesson About Shariah After Cops Break out Hair Clippers
Twelve transgender individuals have been arrested in Indonesia and had their heads shaved after a raid by both local and Shariah police, according to news organizations.
The raid happened in Aceh Province, which is on the northern end of the island of Sumatra, according to Reuters.
The individuals were arrested as part of a raid conducted Jan. 28 termed an “operasi penyakit masyarakat,” which translates from the original Indonesian as “community sickness operation” or “eradication of community disease,” according to the U.K. Independent. Five beauty salons were targeted in the operation.
According to the U.K. Independent, officials said the bust occurred after local residents complained their children were being harassed.
Officials say pornographic videos, which are illegal in the majority-Muslim nation, were also found on the individuals’ phones.
“They are the workers and visitors of the salon, now we have secured to Mapolres (the police station),” North Aceh Regency Police Chief Ahmad Untung Surianata told the media.
“These transvestites will be coached until they really become men.”
Surianata also called the transgender individuals — known locally as “waria,” a term that merges the Indonesian words for “man” and “woman” — were part of a “spreading … disease.”
“We helped them to return to their nature as men and it turned out that they were actually macho,” Surianata said.
Part of this “help” included shaving their heads bald.
There were conflicting reports on when the individuals were released, with some sources saying they were released Sunday or Monday, while other reports had them still detained as of Tuesday. Chief Surianata said he was going to detain the arrestees for at least three days.
Unsurprisingly, his stance drew praise from local politicians.
“I hope that similar things are done by other police chiefs throughout Aceh,” said Asrizal H Asnawi, chairman of the National Mandate Party Faction in Aceh ‘s House of Representatives.
It might also not surprise you to learn that transgender rights aren’t the only rights under attack in Indonesia. The country is considering a ban on all sex outside of marriage, which would essentially criminalize any same-sex act.
While Shariah law does not expressly address transgenderism, it’s clear that most nations that implement it are hostile to almost any LGBT rights, including the freedom from prosecution. In Indonesia, consensual relations between two individuals of the same sex is punishable by 100 lashes with a cane.
The sad fact is that this is a culture that liberals can’t seem to grasp is incompatible with their multicultural worldview.
Things worse than what happened in Aceh happen with unfortunate frequency in Muslim nations.
It’s time for liberals to recognize that large elements of the culture they’re so eager to embrace with migrants in Europe and other parts of the Western world simply are not compatible with a free society.
