Tim Tebow Could Win an Oscar Someday, According to Ex-NFL Star

Share

Eddie George and Tim Tebow have more in common than winning the Heisman Trophy and playing in the NFL.

Both are involved in the upcoming feature film “Run the Race” — George as an actor and Tebow as executive producer.

George — who won the Heisman in 1995 and played nine years in the NFL, including eight with the Oilers/Titans — had nothing but praise for his new boss, saying Tebow could win an Academy Award.

“He’s done a tremendous job and he’s only going to get better from this point on,” George said in an interview with TMZ Sports.

The inspirational film is about two brothers whose father abandons them after their mother dies. One of the brothers is a star football player who suffers a devastating injury. The other brother, who runs track, looks to salvage their future.

The movie stars Mykelti Williamson, Frances Fisher, Mario Van Peebles, Kristoffer Polaha, Tanner Stine and Evan Hofer.

Do you plan to see Tebow's 'Run the Race' movie?

Tebow and his brother Robby are the executive producers for the “Run the Race,” which has finished filming and is in post-production. No date has been set for its theatrical release.

“There’s no limit to what you can do,” George told TMZ. “Tim shows that. Once he sees and gets a taste of success in this business, he’s going to want to do more.”

George quietly has built himself a nice career in Hollywood since retiring from the NFL in 2004. He’s appeared in “NCIS: Los Angeles,” HBO’s “Ballers” and the film “The Game Plan,” and he’ll be starring along with Laurence Fishburne in the 2019 film “Brother’s Keeper.”

He’s also getting ready to star in the musical “Chicago” at Playhouse Square in Cleveland.

“There are a million different stories that are out there that need to be heard, and finding the right people, the right project, the right story, I think he (Tebow) will definitely find his niche in this business,” George told TMZ Sports.

Despite suffering a season-ending hand injury in August, Tebow is still pursuing his baseball career. He played this season with the New York Mets’ Double-A affiliate,  the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, and batted .273 with six home runs and 36 RBIs. He was also made the Eastern League All-Star team.

“Who knows, he could write a story that could win him an Oscar one day,” said George. “The guy is super successful. Everything he touches succeeds to some degree. …

“His work ethic is like no other, so he’s going to cross his t’s and dot his i’s and do his due diligence and make sure he’s in the best position to succeed.”

Hey, if Kobe Bryant can win an Oscar, why not Tebow?
