The second of two fighters whose gender has been a major issue at the Olympics is now going to fight for a gold medal.

Controversial boxer Imane Khelif is only one win away from going home with a gold medal after defeating another female opponent.

Boxer Imane Khelif accused the Italian Olympic boxing team of "trying to weaken her" by not reveal they've known of the Algerian for years.

Warnings about Algerian boxer Imane Khelif were given to the International Olympic Committee in 2022 but were ignored, a boxing official says.

The International Boxing Association held a press conference Monday to set the record straight on two controversial Olympic boxers.

"I send a message to all the people of the world to uphold the Olympic principles and the Olympic Charter," she said.

"I am not a medical person who should say if Lin could compete or not here," the boxer's trainer said after the bout.

Algerian Imane Khelif defeated Hungary's Anna Luca Hamori to move one step closer to winning a medal at the Paris Olympics.

"The fact that she has been beaten by 9 females before says it all," Amy Broadhurst said in a statement on social media.

"I've actually fought and sparred both of the girls. They were born female," she said in a message on social media.
