Sweet Vet Clinic Goes Extra Mile To Tend to Worried Little Girl's Stuffed Cat
When it comes to healthcare professionals, we don’t witness half the things they do on a daily basis. Not even close.
Doctors, nurses and even veterinarians can work long hours or find themselves called in at a moment’s notice.
Some will go the distance to provide great care and service. These ones aren’t hard to spot. They never complain, and treat every patient with compassion and understanding.
A veterinarian’s office from Moses Lake, Washington, did precisely that. When a little girl was worried about her cat “Donnie,” Pioneer Veterinary Clinic went above and beyond to provide high quality and personalized care.
We should probably mention Donnie just so happens to be a stuffed cat. The owner, 6-year-old Jazmine who has special needs, was worried about the little gal.
So Jazmine’s mother, Susie Efigenio, put in a call to the vet’s office and made an appointment for their beloved friend.
When they arrived, the staff and vet did everything in their power to make this sweet girl and her favorite pet feel at home.
From checking the stuffed cat’s weight to performing a complete physical exam, Dr. Maier and his staff took care of Donnie just like they would a real live pet.
And, to this little girl, this stuffed animal clearly means the world. Like most children would, she probably feels her friend is as real as can be.
The clinic even posted a complete rundown of Donnie’s visit on their Facebook page. “Presenting Complaint: Scratch on right front foot,” they wrote.
They shared that Donnie’s “heart and lungs sounded normal” but that she had a “small laceration on [her] right front foot.”
And, because Donnie came from Build-a-Bear, she even had a heartbeat, making this furry friend more alive than ever.
The clinic shared Dr. Maier was “surprised to actually hear a heart beat!” Wouldn’t you have loved to witness his reaction then?
With a bandage on her right foot and a prescription for “extra cuddles” at home, Donnie was declared well and sent on her way. “Thank you Jazmine for trusting us to care for your beloved ‘Donnie,'” the clinic wrote.
We’re so glad Jazmine was met with so much kindness by this fine doctor and his staff. We have no doubt if Donnie and Jazmine ever need them again, they’ll be just a phone call away.
