School Receptionist Eager for Summer Goes Viral with Rendition of Etta James' 'At Last'
As the school year draws to a close, students are itching to get out of class and into the sunshine. After being inside for so long, all anyone wants to do is have time to enjoy the outdoors.
The school faculty members are often counting down the days as well. After the many hours they have contributed to teaching the kids, they are ready for their own break.
When reaching those last days of school, the classes will often be filled with fun activities, such as a class party or a movie.
For receptionist Regina Ballard from North Lincoln High School, she decided to end the last day of school with an unforgettable announcement.

She turned on the intercom and started her announcement with, “It’s three o’clock y’all. At 3:15 it’s official.”
Then she pressed play and an instrumental track of Etta James’ “At Last” began to fill the school.
When she started to sing, Ballard gave a big smile. Her voice surprised everyone with her clarity and power, and her summer-themed lyrics made everyone excited for the bell to ring.
“At last, summer break has come along,” she sang.
Throughout the song, Ballard couldn’t contain her excitement and started to move to the words she sang.
Her rendition made everyone have a memorable last day of school, and soon after she finished singing, the students got to enjoy their summer, at last.
Ballard posted her video on Facebook and it soon had over 100,000 views and almost 2,000 shares.
Everyone who watched it loved her enthusiasm and her voice. Many people mentioned that she should audition for various singing competition shows.
For Ballard, she is looking forward to spending time with her family over the summer that she deserves. Hopefully, she will continue to write and sing with that beautiful voice and fun creativity that she has been blessed with as well!
