Rush Limbaugh on NY Abortion Law: 'Here's Why Liberals Are Cheering Murder'

Share

On the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion, the New York state legislature passed — and Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law —  a horrific pro-abortion bill known as the Reproductive Health Act of 2019.

That law codified abortion in the state constitution, legalized abortions up until the moment of birth, allowed any “medical practitioner” to perform abortions, denied “personhood” to babies until after they were born and removed the requirement to aid a baby that survived an abortion and all references to abortion from the criminal penal codes, among other despicable things. After the bill was signed into law, New York Democrats led a celebratory standing ovation in the legislative chamber.

Much has already been said in opposition to New York’s law that essentially allows for the unrestrained murder of fully-formed unborn babies, and now the conservative talk radio host, Rush Limbaugh, has weighed in on the disturbing development.

During his Thursday program, Limbaugh decided to “dig deeper on this whole abortion business” and track the shift over time of how Democrats have dealt publicly with the topic of abortion.

“There has been is a significant, fundamental change in the way they are describing what they are supporting here, because it’s always been killing. They’ve known it, we know it, everybody knows it. They have sought to massage the language so that it wasn’t seen as that,” Limbaugh said.

He noted that Democrats had long framed their support for abortion as simply “a woman’s right to choose. It was a freedom issue or a civil rights issue,” and how the left sought to describe unborn babies as “an unviable tissue mass,” and pregnancy was “a risky medical condition” that could even be classified as a “disease.”

There were the arguments about the initial point at which an unborn baby becomes a human being, with the pro-life crowd saying the moment of conception while the pro-abortion side said life and personhood didn’t begin until birth, which is exactly what the New York law just codified.

Do you think liberals celebrated because they were victorious over pro-life conservatives?

Limbaugh asked why liberals had made abortion such an integral issue for their side and proceeded to answer his own rhetorical question: “Well, it was a hell of a fundraising issue, but it also tied inexorably to militant feminism, which meant that it tied to uber-liberalism. So it was designed to raise money. It was designed to create hatred against people who love God and believe in God.”

“It was designed to create a divided society and culture with people that love and believe in God on one side and everybody else on the other, and then they tried to recruit as many people away from God to their side as they could,” he said.

Limbaugh added that that was why the left rarely mentioned support for adoption instead of abortion, as that would undermine the argument that the unborn baby wasn’t actually a baby or human life worthy of living.

He suggested everything had changed now and said, “They are giving standing ovations in the New York state Senate chamber to the killing of children! Now they are acknowledging that that’s what’s happening, and they’re applauding it! And they’re codifying it and making it constitutional in New York. They applaud it. There was a standing O for the provision that if an attempted abortion fails, you can go ahead and finish the job after birth.”

Limbaugh wondered why Democrats would openly celebrate such a thing, and reminded his listeners, “The last time something like this happened was in World War II! You’re not supposed to bring that up, by the way, in relation to abortion.”

Then he got down to the heart of the matter, in his view, of why Democrats stood and cheered the passage of the atrocious abortion law. He said all of the celebration boiled down to one thing, “and that is they are beating us and rubbing our nose in it, and that is what makes them happy. They hate us to the point that anything that gives them the feeling of victory, the feeling of having trounced us, that’s worth the standing ovation. ‘Us’ being religion, God, the Catholic Church, Christianity at large, conservatives, the conservative movement.”

Later in the program, Limbaugh referenced the abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell who had been convicted of murder for killing babies that survived abortions. He said, “Everything Kermit Gosnell was convicted of murder for doing has now been legalized in New York … He was convicted of killing infants that had already been born, now legal in New York. He was convicted of allowing untrained and unlicensed non-medical people to perform abortions. That’s now legal in New York.

“Kermit Gosnell always maintained that he was innocent, that he was ahead of his time, and would someday be exonerated — and New York just did it. They just exonerated him,” he added.

Sadly, Rush Limbaugh is absolutely correct in his assessment. Liberals across the country celebrated and cheered the passage of a law that allows unborn babies to be murdered for any or no real reason up until the moment of birth. They cheered as much for their victory over pro-life conservatives as they did for the abominable wanton murder of innocent human beings, neither of which is worth celebrating, but should instead be mourned.
