5 Robbers Find AR-15 Toting Homeowner, 30 Rounds Later Justice Had Been Served

In the anti-gun left’s interminable effort to undermine the Second Amendment-protected right to keep and bear arms, a significant portion of the gun grabbers’ attention is focused on AR-15-style semi-automatic rifles.

Ill-informed gun grabbers often tell gun owners and gun-rights supporters that there is no justifiable reason for civilians to possess such rifles and “nobody needs” the 30 rounds provided by the rifle’s standard-capacity magazines.

But according to The Daily Caller, a recent story out of Florida about a home invasion gone wrong for the criminals revealed a rather legitimate civilian use for an AR-15 as well as a 30-round magazine.

That incident ended with five home invaders arrested after two were wounded and one was killed during a shootout with a well-armed homeowner.

WJXT reported on the botched home invasion that occurred around 4 a.m. on April 15 when a group of as many as seven criminals shouted “Sheriff’s office!” as they burst through the door of a mobile home in Glen St. Mary, Florida.

The first masked man through the door fired at least one shot from a handgun but was met immediately by a resident of the home armed with an AR-15, as well as another armed with a 9mm handgun, who returned fire in self-defense against the intruders.

The man with the AR-15 estimated he fired all 30 rounds from his rifle’s magazine.

That first man through the door was hit by multiple shots, as were the two other intruders who followed closely behind them, forcing the crime in progress to be called off and the home invader crew to attempt to flee the scene as fast as they could.

Would you ever consider an AR-15 for defending your home?

The mobile home’s residents immediately called 911 and rapidly responding deputies intercepted the crew of criminals as they sped away from their botched operation. Five individuals were placed under arrest for the home invasion and the wounded criminals were transported to a hospital, where one who was shot in the head was later pronounced dead.

Investigators suspect the home invasion was an escalation of an ongoing feud between the home invaders and the group of men who lived in the mobile home.

TheTruthAboutGuns.com noted that, contrary to what may be heard from ignorant anti-gun advocates, a modern sporting rifle like an AR-15 with a standard 30-round magazine makes an excellent weapon for the purpose of home defense.

That is largely because the rifles are incredibly reliable, lightweight and user-friendly, and come equipped with enough rounds in the standard capacity magazine to handle multiple intruders.

Of course, they are also quite intimidating as well, at least for those who are on the wrong end of the barrel.

Bear in mind that this incident occurred early in the morning as the home’s residents were rudely awakened by the home invaders, and how the AR-15-equipped homeowner used all 30 rounds available to him in the heat of the confused moment to dissuade the intruders from continuing their crime.

Now consider if the Democrat-approved “assault weapons ban” had been in place or the homeowner had followed the advice of former Vice President Joe Biden and been armed only with a double-barrel or pump-action shotgun against multiple intruders, and it is easy to see how this story could have ended much differently.

The reality of the situation is, nobody knows ahead of time what sort of weapon or how many rounds one will “need” to defend against a threat posed by criminals, and those who would place restrictions on certain kinds of firearms or institute arbitrary limits on magazine capacity are doing nothing but making things easier on the criminals.
