Restaurant Uses a Nearly 200-Lb. Cheese Wheel To Make Spaghetti Dish In Front Of Diners

One of the best things about traveling is getting to try new restaurants or dishes you might not have available back home.

Thanks to television and YouTube, we have to the opportunity to scope out the foodie scene before we ever head out on vacation.

Some people even choose their vacation destinations based on what foods they’d like to try. From alcoholic cupcakes to golden burgers, “food-cations” are definitely growing in popularity.

If you’re planning a trip to the east coast any time soon, you might want to add Block Island, Rhode Island to your list of stops.

Aldo’s Italian Seafood and Pizzeria calls itself a staple on the island, serving its community and a number of tourists for over 40 years.

Aldo’s offers a smorgasbord of appetizers, salads and entrees that will make any food-loving traveler’s mouth water.

But what they are perhaps best known for is how they serve up one very special pasta dish. Ever heard of a flaming cheese wheel?

If you haven’t, one trip to Aldo’s might make you never want pasta served another way again. A video originally posted on the ASG Newsflare channel shows exactly how this special spaghetti is made.

This channel is known for posting videos related to all things outdoor and travel. ASG shares “adventures any passionate outdoors person can enjoy and appreciate.”

We can certainly appreciate this video of an 85kg wheel of parmesan. According to the caption on Rumble, “The parmesan is cut into deep enough to form a bowl and then heated cognac is poured into this bowl and set alight.”

Watch as the chef shaves the inside of the wheel. He shares that he learned the technique when he was in Aruba.

“Soft spaghetti is added and mixed with the cheese sauce in the melting parmesan before serving,” the caption reads.

Sauce is added so the cheese doesn’t clump. “We call it ‘Aldo’s Adult Mac and Cheese,'” the chef says. Wow!

It certainly looks tasty from where I’m sitting. Such a dish must be rich on top of being savory and delicious. Would you try spaghetti made in a cheese wheel?
