Power Outage Hits Key Michigan County Shortly Before Polls Close
A power outage reportedly hit a polling location in Wayne County, Michigan, shortly before polls closed, disrupting the election process as voters cast their ballots.
News of the power outage was shared on social media by grassroots conservative activist and organizer Scott Presler, who noted that he received a report about the outage “from a voter in Michigan.”
The voter wrote in their report that the power at their polling place wouldn’t “be coming back on until 7:40 PM,” which was “20 min before polls close.”
Pressler shared the report on the social media platform X, where it quickly went viral and attracted the attention of the Republican National Committee.

“The RNC is in direct contact with DTE Energy and is aware of a power outage in Canton Township,” their response continued. “Voting is ongoing, so STAY IN LINE! POLLS ARE OPEN. GO VOTE.”

X’s artificial intelligence bot Grok also provided confirmation of “isolated outages” in Wayne County.
The AI bot reported that data from Poweroutage.us — a real-time data aggregation project that tracks, records, and maps power outages across the United States — matched witness accounts of outages.
My latest update: In Canton Township, voting is ongoing despite a power outage thanks to a FEMA-funded battery and $566 in safety lights from Home Depot @VotebeatUS https://t.co/NQCLWBjt1i https://t.co/VPUBLrOKSZ
