Peyton Manning Announces He's Finally Going into Broadcasting... Sort Of
Peyton Manning fans will be happy to hear that the quarterback-turned-pitchman will be back on TV in the near future.
Of course, Manning will still be featured on a number of commercials, from DirecTV to Nationwide, but he’ll also be venturing into sports broadcasting — in a way.
The future Hall of Famer is joining ESPN on the film analysis series “Detail,” created by former NBA star Kobe Bryant.
The program, which is available on ESPN+, has covered just basketball to this point, with a focus on the NBA but also covering games from the WNBA and NBA Summer League.
It will expand into NFL analysis this season as Manning will host, write and share insights on specific players and games.
The first of his eight episodes, available Thursday, will feature his analysis of Arizona Cardinals rookie Josh Rosen when he took on the Vikings last week.
“I’ve always enjoyed talking football with coaches, players and passionate fans, and that’s at the core of this show,” Manning said in an ESPN news release. “I’m honored to help expand Kobe’s Detail to a football audience.”
Manning is collaborating with NFL Films and Granity Studios, the media company founded by Bryant.
“The concept behind Detail is centered around helping athletes get better, so it made perfect sense to expand the show to other sports,” Bryant, also the executive producer of “Detail,” said in the news release.
“Peyton was my first call to be the NFL athlete due to his unrelenting preparation and study of his craft,” he said. “The next generation of football players will learn first-hand how one of the greatest players of all time objectively breaks down a game. It’s the ultimate film session for anyone who wants to learn and improve.”
Bryant has already seen Manning’s analysis and told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that fans are in store for something truly unique.

Bryant and Manning combined to win seven rings and six MVP awards. They both retired in 2016 and, along with soccer player Abby Wambach, received the Icon Award at the 2016 ESPYs.

Manning is the NFL’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 539. He was the all-time leader in passing yards until being passed by the New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees on Oct. 8.
In addition to adding the NFL to its portfolio, “Detail” will also unveil a UFC edition in the future, ESPN announced.
