On 12th Anniversary with Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman Shares Rare Wedding Video Shot in Australia

As an institution, American marriage hasn’t been in a happy place for a long time. We all know that about half of all unions end in divorce.

That’s why it’s so encouraging to see a marriage — and a Hollywood marriage, at that! — stay strong through thick and thin. Of course, I’m speaking about the marriage of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.

The Australian couple celebrated their 12th anniversary on June 25, and Urban celebrated by posting a cute candid snap of the two making music together to his Instagram account. The caption read, “12 years of celestial synergized soul dancing.

“Happy anniversary Babygirl!!! I love you SO much.”

The country musician also led a crowd at one of his concerts at Country USA Festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in a stirring rendition of “Happy Birthday.” The attendees even appended the song to include his pet name for her: Babygirl.

Not to be outdone, Kidman shared a video montage of their wedding day in Australia, adding, “Still feels like yesterday. I’m a lucky woman.”

Though both stars have had failed relationships in the past, the strength of their current union inspires. But you may be surprised to learn one of their relationship secrets.

When Parade asked Kidman in an interview about how she communicates with her family, she said, “We don’t text.” The gobsmacked interviewer replied, “You have a no-texting rule?”

“We call,” Kidman reliped matter-of-factly. “And that’s 12 years of marriage. …

“We just do voice to voice or skin to skin, as we always say. We talk all the time, and we FaceTime, but we just don’t text because I feel like texting can be misrepresentative at times.”

The Academy Award-winning actress added that not keeping secrets from one another was also a fundamental rule.

“We just approach [our relationship] with humility and hope and just really love hanging out. I mean it’s that simple.”

So what do you think? Do you think avoiding texting can help boost a marriage or does such a rule simply lack substance?
