Ocasio-Cortez Takes First Vacation... Her Term Doesn't Start Until 2019
As someone who has basically worked since I was of legal age to do so, I understand the benefits of the occasional vacation.
But the thing is, a vacation is only really appropriate while you’re actually working.
Otherwise, you’re just taking a break from taking a break. That’s pathetic enough if you’re an average American. But if you’re a political figure? It’s a truly nauseating look.
A good recent example of this would be former President Barack Obama. You could often spot him golfing while the world was crumbling around him. Classy.
But to give Obama the smallest sliver of credit, at least he was “working,” in so much as he had been on the job, when he went on his golf breaks.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can’t even hurdle over that ridiculously low bar.
Everyone’s least favorite socialist Loony Toons character turned congresswoman-elect has, by some minor miracle, made Obama look positively hard-working compared to her after her recent posts on social media.
Apparently, without actually having worked a day as a congresswoman yet, Ocasio-Cortez needs a vacation. Pardon me, a “self-care” break.
I’m taking a few days to take care of myself before what is sure to be an eventful term.
For working people, immigrants, & the poor, self-care is political – not because we want it to be, but bc of the inevitable shaming of someone doing a face mask while financially stressed./1 https://t.co/EWdWFmPwet

“I’m taking a few days to take care of myself before what is sure to be an eventful term,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. “For working people, immigrants, & the poor, self-care is political – not because we want it to be, but bc of the inevitable shaming of someone doing a face mask while financially stressed.”
First of all, Ocasio-Cortez’s shameless identity politicking is truly breathtaking. The sheer lack of self-awareness is unbelievable. Notice she said “we” while referring to working people, immigrants and the poor.
Second of all, nobody is shaming anyone for wearing a face mask during stressful times. The shame stems from people who are more interested in eliminating facial wrinkles than eliminating poverty in their district.
Ocasio-Cortez then followed up by asking Twitter for some suggestions on her unearned vacation.
So I’ve decided to take others along with me on IG as I learn what self-care even means and why it’s important.

Deservedly, Ocasio-Cortez was savaged by Twitter for making her self-indulgence seem like a virtue.
Seriously? Self-care? Never heard of it until now. Do parents raising children and working two jobs get this self-proclaimed benefit? Sounds like a self-imposed saferoom. Sounds like a person who has never held down a minimum wage job just to keep a roof over there head. Lazy

Eating and having a roof over my head is calming to me, so I have to WORK!
Must be nice to take days off before you even begin- oh, and when you already only in session about 130 days where the rest of us work around 261 days a year.
This is entitled garbage.— I Have Trouble Focusi…squirrel! (@i_focusi) December 18, 2018
“Entitled garbage” indeed.
If her stunning political upset over longtime Democrat Joe Crowley was too stressful, Washington, D.C., is going to rip her to shreds.
Frankly, it couldn’t happen to a better person.
