Ocasio-Cortez Refuses To Apologize, Actually Doubles Down on Her Green New Deal Hypocrisy

Share

Hillary Clinton herself couldn’t put it better.

A report published Saturday by the New York Post pointed out that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her campaign staff made extensive use of ride-sharing vehicles instead of using public transportation during the general election campaign leading up to November.

But the woman who wants to radically transform American life with her Green New Deal proposal isn’t apologizing at all.

The Post’s story details the extensive use the Ocasio-Cortez campaign made of automobile services like Uber and Lyft even though her campaign headquarters was literally a minute’s walk to the nearest subway station.

“Since declaring her candidacy in May 2017, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign heavily relied on those combustible-engine cars — even though a subway station was just 138 feet from her Elmhurst campaign office,” the Post reported.

“She listed 1,049 transactions for Uber, Lyft, Juno and other car services, federal filings show. The campaign had 505 Uber expenses alone.

“In all, Ocasio-Cortez spent $29,365.70 on those emissions-spewing vehicles, along with car and van rentals — even though her Queens HQ was a one-minute walk to the 7 train.

“The campaign shelled out only $8,335.41 on 52 MetroCard transactions.”

Now,  Ocasio-Cortez is basically famous for wanting the wean the United States off of modern conveniences to save a world that’s ostensibly in danger of being destroyed in 12 years.

Do you think Ocasio-Cortez is a hypocrite?

Given that, it might seem like she would be a little embarrassed by the hometown newspaper pointing out the “do as I say, not as I do” approach she and her staff took to little details like daily travel in carbon-emitting vehicles powered by the internal combustion engine.

But since she’s proven since bursting onto the public scene that she’s nothing if not audacious, Ocasio-Cortez responded to the report with pure arrogance.

“I also fly & use A/C,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter Saturday. “The Green New Deal is about putting a LOT of people to work in developing new technologies, building new infrastructure, and getting us to 100% renewable energy.”

In other words, she and her totalitarian party comrades might have grand plans to redesign how normal Americans live their lives, but until they can impose their schemes on the rest of us, she’ll get around however she damn well chooses.

The hauteur is pure Hillary. Marie Antoinette might have blushed.

But while Ocasio-Cortez’s fans might have been satisfied with her “world as it is” excuse, the rest of the world wasn’t buying it.

“The ‘world as it is’ has the option of taking the subway rather than a taxi, option of Amtrak rather than plan, option of opening windows rather than A/C. You’re just a garden-variety hypocrite like the others. And you have ZERO expertise at any of the things you pretend to know,” environmentalist, businessman and Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore wrote on Twitter.

“The world as it is is pretty good though, right?” a Twitter user identified as Boomieleaks wrote.

“China & India aren’t going to give up the modern world just because we do.

“In fact, they’ll probably step in and fill the void with more production (and even more emissions) while we handicap ourselves for nothing.”

For Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow travelers, though, that’s not the point.

While they’re pushing their Green New Deal and trying to cripple the economy of the greatest country the world has ever known, they’re more than happy to make use of the modern conveniences it made possible.

And it’s a rock solid bet that even if they did manage to pass the Green New Deal and push Americans back to living in mud huts, they’d still be living the high life of airplanes and skyscrapers and air conditioning.

In every totalitarian society that has ever existed, including the Soviet Union that Ocasio-Cortez comrade Bernie Sanders loved so much, party rank has always had its privileges.

That’s not the world of most Americans as it is, but it’s the world as Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders and the rest want to make it.

If President Donald Donald Trump hadn’t defeated Hillary Clinton in the upset of a lifetime in the 2016 election, it’s a world we’d be much closer to now.
