NFL Legend Calls for CNN Anchor's Firing over 'Despicable' Kanye Attacks

Share

In his youth, Herschel Walker’s freakish athleticism allowed him to channel a quiet rage that allowed him to excel in football, bobsledding, sprinting and mixed martial arts.

Walker, now 56, isn’t quite the athletic marvel that he was when he was in his 20s, but that doesn’t mean that fire in his belly is gone.

Unfortunately for Don Lemon, Walker is directing every last bit of his fire toward the CNN host after a controversial segment Tuesday on Kanye West’s visit to the White House.

Lemon, along with political commentators Bakari Sellers and Tara Setmayer, sparked outrage with comments about West.

“Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read,” Sellers said in the segment.

“He’s the token Negro of the Trump administration,” Setmayer added.

The segment followed along these lines, with Lemon only being able to snicker and laugh as he tacitly approved what was being said about West.

Unsurprisingly, those comments didn’t sit well with Walker. He excoriated the entire segment on social media and called for CNN to cut ties with Sellers, Setmayer and Lemon.

“Went to bed appalled over @donlemon despicable behavior laughing @TaraSetmayer and @Bakari_Sellers awful remarks about Kanye West’s visit with @realDonaldTrump!! Woke up wondering why @CNN doesn’t take all three off the air?” Walker tweeted, adding the hashtags “SHAMEFUL” and “CNN” to the end of his post.

Interestingly, Setmayer fired back at Walker on Twitter.

“Bless your heart,” Setmayer began on Twitter. “You want to silence me because I expressed a different opinion than yours? Because I called out Kanye for what he is? Uninformed! I’m an actual conservative, who’s worked on policy advancing those principles for 20+yrs.”

Taking one last subtle shot at West and Walker, Setmayer declared, “I’ll never be a shill for Trump.”

To the surprise of nobody who knows Walker, the former Cowboys star fired back on Twitter.

“No… @TaraSetmayer, anyone that is African American with an opinion different than yours, you want to call them out by using the N-word and @donlemon is laughing?? To me that’s bullying and shameful!!” Walker fired back on Twitter.

Do you agree with Herschel Walker?

Of note, this is hardly the first time Walker has taken a pro-Trump stance in public. He lambasted NFL anthem protesters back in November 2017 while calling on everyone to “respect the White House.”

“Guys, let me tell you this — our flag is very special, and black lives matter, but what we should do is go to Washington after the season and protest there instead,” Walker said in November. “We have young men and women fighting for the flag. And we have to respect the White House.”
