Newborn with Dramatic Birth Had Hole Separating Heart, Now Called 'Miracle Baby'

What is a miracle? How often does one happen? Is it one specific instance where something incredible happens — something so unique, so awe-inspiring, that it defies the logic of explanation?

Well, in this instance, our miracle is backed up by not only love and dedication, but also trained medical professionals who have been given wisdom and skill to treat this dear little one.

Do miracles happen every day? A little girl named Genesis has been giving the folks in Michigan a miracle every single day she smiles back at the dedicated nurses and doctors who take care of her.

In Grand Rapids, Michigan, a tiny, powerful miracle named Genesis Boss has been brought into the world. She’s been in the hospital for her entire life, but soon will be able to go home and grow with her loving family.

Genesis Boss was born May 10, 2017, at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born with Micrognathia and a hole separating the two chambers of her heart.

Micrognathia causes her jaw to be much smaller then normal, and little baby Genesis needed medical aid breathing and swallowing as soon as she was born.

The exit procedure was the first of its kind to be performed at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Doctors were able to partially deliver her while she was still attached and breathing through her mother’s umbilical cord, put in a breathing tube, and then deliver the rest of her.

When little Genesis was born, she was also found to have a hole in her heart. After two different surgeries, the little tyke is doing much better.

Boss triumphantly reported, “She’s up to fourteen pounds now… she was born at four pounds fourteen ounces. There was a couple times when they had to up her calories but now she’s doing well!”

Boss has been enjoying as much time with her as possible. Which is quite smart, because science has actually shown that it’s impossible to cuddle your baby too much.

Reporters from Fox 17 West Michigan say that her mother reports she may need assisted breathing treatment for a few years. Thankfully, she is developing and smiling just like a normal baby.

Boss has been commuting from work in East Jordan, Michigan, every week. She can’t wait to bring her baby home, saying, “The doctors say that babies really bloom once they’re home.”

It seems that miracles do happen every day. And sometimes, that miracle has a spiritual and a physical explanation.

Hundreds of people on social media have wished Genesis the best and given the mother kind words of encouragement as they take the next step in their new life together.

All the best to these two. We hope you have an easy transition, a full recovery, and plenty of wonderful mother-daughter bonding time!
