MSNBC Thinks Trump's Finally Lost Support, Then They Interview Their Worst Nightmare

Share

Well, let’s give the folks at MSNBC some credit. This could not have been what they were expecting to hear.

The network sent correspondent Morgan Radford to Kenosha County in Wisconsin — located south of Milwaukee and bordering heavily Democratic Illinois — to ask Trump supporters in that region if they still supported President Donald Trump after his heavily criticized performance during a press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week.

Trump won Kenosha County in 2016, which was significant because it was the fist time a Republican presidential nominee won the county since 1972. With Wisconsin being a swing state, you can bet MSNBC was expecting to have no trouble finding voters who had backed Trump two years ago now having second thoughts about their decision.

But, at least in the case of the people shown in this segment, that was not the case. You can bet MSNBC was surprised to learn that those who voted for Trump still support Trump.

John Poole said he still supports the president and believes Trump was trying to appease some on the right with his statement Tuesday that he e “misspoke” about claims of Russian election meddling during his press conference with Putin.

“Well, he did get some Republican backlash on that,” Poole said. “I think they just didn’t hear the whole story before they started coming after him, so he was just trying to appease them a little bit.”

A man who was not identified said all of the bruhaha that erupted Monday is just a temporary bump in the road for Trump.

“I know there’s a lot of backlash going on now,” the man said. “I’m totally in support of him”

Is Trump still maintaining a strong level of support from those who voted for him in 2016?

When Radford asked why the man was still behind the president, he said it’s because Trump is still the person he believes is best for the country.

“Because he’s an entrepreneur, he’s a businessman, a working-class person’s president,” the man said. “He’s trying to make this country great again.”

An unidentified woman was asked if she still supported the president after the events of this week. “Yes, yes,” the woman said enthusiastically.

Another man, also unidentified, said he doesn’t care what the rest of the world thinks of Trump.

“I’m not one bit worried about the rest of the world,” the man said. “They ain’t worried about us, so, you know, I’m not worried one bit about what the rest of the world thinks.

As I said, give MSNBC credit for running with this piece because it certainly doesn’t fit the narrative of impending mutiny that those on the left want to see. And you can bet they interviewed far more than four people in an effort to find dissent among the constituency.

But then again, it shouldn’t be surprising to MSNBC or any other media outlet to learn that Trump voters remain, for the most part, Trump supporters. Even if Monday wasn’t Trump’s strongest performance, the majority of voters are far more worried about the economy, illegal immigration and other domestic issues than U.S. relations with Russia.

And when it comes to those issues, Trump is doing well with his base, which likely bodes well for Republicans in November.
