MSNBC 2019: There's No Border Crisis | MSNBC 2017: One of Most Serious Crisis in America Is Drugs Smuggled over Border

A major frustration among Americans is that the once-trusted news media seems to have entered the propaganda business. It used to be that reporters, well, reported facts without the spin.

These days, however, it’s tough to tell the difference between the mainstream media and the Democratic Party’s communications wing. This is perfectly illustrated by “news” coverage of the border, and the issues that are connected to it.

Case in point: Back in August 2017, MSNBC ran an in-depth report acknowledging that deadly drugs likes fentanyl were pouring across the southern border, and admitting that it was a crisis.

Calling the flood of opioids a “national emergency,” MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff spent close to 10 minutes digging into the problem.

“This draft report that you issued … recommends that Trump declare a national emergency,” Soboroff confirmed to former Democrat Rep. Patrick Kennedy, who agreed.

Yes, even the left was on-board with tackling the cross-border drug problem less than two years ago.

Soboroff also played a clip of his previous interview with health officials in Ohio, who estimated that tens of thousands of American deaths were caused by fentanyl coming over the U.S.-Mexico border.

“How is that not a mass-casualty event? That is multiples of 9/11,” the MSNBC journalist soberly stated.

“What we thought we would do is really lead with a state of emergency declaration,” insisted Kennedy. “In order to frame people in this context … that this is a crisis. And then if this is a crisis, then Congress must appropriate the necessary resources in order to meet the crisis.”

Now fast-forward to this week. On Tuesday, the exact same network — MSNBC — basically mocked President Trump for calling the border situation a “crisis” and considering it a national emergency.

“We’ve got to begin this morning with the administration calling the situation at the southern border ‘a crisis,'” said reporter Stephanie Ruhle with a scolding tone. “Well that is debatable — at best.”

“But if the president uses his nationwide address … to define it as a ‘national emergency,” she continued, making sarcastic air quotes with her fingers. “Well, I would call that a whole other level.”

The MSNBC journalist then went on to mock the administration for using the word “crisis” when talking about the border.

So let’s get this straight. In 2017, the same network breathlessly reported on the drug problem which is centered on the border. MSNBC’s own talking head called the flow of opioids into the United States a “mass-casualty event” that was worse than 9/11, while a Democrat clearly said it was a national emergency.

But now, suddenly, the network is openly mocking the president for saying essentially the same thing.

“Our southern border is a pipeline for vast quantities of illegal drugs including meth, heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl,” Trump pointed out at the very beginning of his televised address to the nation — the same message MSNBC attacked him for delivering.

“Every week, 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone. Ninety percent of which floods across from our southern border. More Americans will die from drugs this year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War,” Trump continued, echoing what Kennedy and Soboroff already admitted.

Here’s the reality: Everyone knows the border is broken. The same Democrats who are now squawking about Trump actually agreed with him for years, as dozens of videos show.

The two-faced hypocrisy is to be expected from politicians, but is utterly unacceptable from the media. They don’t seem to be even hiding their bias anymore.

For outlets like MSNBC to pretend that they are the gatekeepers of facts, yet lie through their teeth and play political games, is exactly why nobody trusts them.

When it comes to this issue, however, the sad truth is that the media covering up what’s happening at the border will mean more Americans die from drugs and crime …

And that is inexcusable.
