Mother Films Heartfelt Moment She Surprises Son with Down Syndrome with Trip to Disney

Share

Everyone has a dream. Some of us have big dreams of traveling the world or owning a home in Tuscany. Then there are those of us who were born to wear mouse ears.

The others don’t get it. They watch us with our magical, pixie dust smiles and enchanted expressions, looking on in wonder as a toddler meets Mickey Mouse for the first time.

They don’t understand our need to stand in line and snap a photo with our favorite character, although we’re well into becoming middle-aged.

But we don’t care. Because Disney is the stuff our dreams are made of. Whether we’re 2 or 52, we just can’t get enough of our happiest places on earth — the Disney parks.

One of the best things about social media is having the chance to partake in moments we would otherwise miss.

We’re invited into the homes and lives of other Disney fans, asked to share in their joy as they tell their kids they’re visiting the Magic Kingdom for the first time.

There is no shortage of videos like these, and no matter how many times we see them, we find ourselves wanting more.

One mom shared a video of her son finding out about his Disney trip and it has gone completely viral. Alex has Down syndrome and the joy he expresses is infectious.

Watch as he realizes what flying to Orlando, Florida, really means. When it hits him, you can’t help but smile with anticipation along with this sweet kid.

The mom who posted this memorable moment, Alethea Jo, blogs about her life as a special needs parent at Ben’s Writing Running Mom.

According to the “About” page on her site, Ben is her youngest son and also has Down syndrome along with a host of other conditions.

We can’t be sure, but we can surmise that this trip with her older son, Alex, was a special getaway for just the two of them.

I especially love when she says, “It was Dad’s idea.” Awesome dad and sweetheart mom. We hope they had the best time ever at the place where dreams come true!
