Marines Sing 'Days of Elijah' Together During Worship Service at Military Base

Share

For the men and women who work day in and day out to sacrifice so much for our country’s freedom, it can be difficult to find light in a world filled with war, sorrow, and darkness.

This is why faith is so important to many in the armed forces. Our country was founded on biblical principles — “one nation under God.”

Though this line may no longer be spoken in many schools when the Pledge of Allegiance is recited, it still holds true for anyone who retains a strong belief in God.

The U.S. Marines of Camp Pendleton in Southern California know this better than anyone. In 2014 a large group of them were caught on video singing with passionate hearts and hands during a Christian worship service.

The video went viral in a big way with multiple shares and reposts even four years later. The men and women and be seen singing, clapping and swaying, with arms around their brothers and sisters.

“These are the says of Elijah,” they sang, “declaring the Word of the Lord.” This may just be the most inspiring version of Robin Mark’s song that I’ve ever heard.

Watch as they get lost in praise and worship. There isn’t a silent voice in the house at the Caruso Memorial Chapel.

One of the original videos, shared by Merrie K. Baldwin, is incredibly moving. Her words are touching as well.

“Tonight was amazing!” she wrote in her caption.

“Music was led by Rick Founds who wrote ‘Lord I Lift Your Name On High.’ What a way to spend Mother’s Day loving on these brave young men who love the Lord. My hope is renewed.”

This doesn’t mark the only time Marines were caught lifting their hands high to the Lord. You’d be amazed what a little Google search will bring up!

Watch as this group of soldiers sings “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High,” complete with sign language movements. I can’t decide which video is my favorite! Both gave me chills!

What a beautiful reminder of our country’s foundation and ideals. I’d love to attend one of these services and soak it all in.

Praise and worship is important to any man or woman of faith, and these soldiers certainly are an example to all believers. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6
