Man Wasn't Looking To Adopt Pup, Then Owner Told Him of Plans To Shoot It for Being So Small
No matter how strong some people are, there are some battles that are just too difficult to face alone. Even the most supportive friends can be hard to turn to for help during the darkest hours.
There are plenty of people who have found, though, that their four-legged companions have made all the difference. They can’t speak, they can’t use words to reassure their owners of anything, but they’re excellent listeners and always ready to offer a snuggle.
Noah ended up being just what Vivian needed, though neither of them knew it at the beginning. Their life together started out because of a rather fortunate accident in 2011.
A friend of Vivian’s husband was looking into getting an American bully puppy, so he and Vivian’s husband went to go look at some pups. Noah didn’t seem like much of a contender at first.
The runt of the litter, Noah was sitting in the corner. The breeder had plans for him, apparently — but not good ones. According to The Dodo, the breeder said he was going to shoot the tiny puppy because he was just too small.
Instead, the little guy went home to Vivian, and soon became an important part of the family.
“Noah only weighed 4.5lbs at 9 weeks,” a May 2017 post on the dog’s Facebook page reads. “But with lots of love, exercise and of course food, he’s exactly where he should be today. A big lovabull hippo who can’t contain his sweetness or cuteness.”
He proved his loyalty to Vivian when, the next year, she had surgery and he was constantly by her side. The two were inseparable throughout her recovery process, and they started going on adventures together.
Her physical ailments were far from over, and she was housebound once again. A Marine, it was hard for her to accept that her body was betraying her, and she sank into a deep depression that no one except Noah seemed to notice.
Vivian was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, and Noah was her biggest comfort and motivation. The next logical step was to register Noah as a support animal, which allowed Vivian the freedom of traveling.
Noah’s not the only pup in the family now, either. They’ve been joined by another adorable pit named Lincoln.
“Noah is focused, quiet, shy at times, dependable, observant and almost gentleman like,” Vivian wrote on the dogs’ joint Facebook page in January. “Lincoln is silly, loud, not shy at all, curious, a class clown and can be a jerk at times.
“Granted, there is a 6 year difference between them but I believe these are their personalities forever and I love them! What they both share is that they are loving, fail at their #stereotypes and continue to change hearts. Opposites or not, they are one big blob of love!”
