From 1985 to 1991, the NES was considered the king of consoles. There is a fact that few know about this iconic system, in Great Britain Nintendo licensed NES distribution rights to the toy company Mattel, and it was a hot mess. Thanks to a combination of poor choice of game releases — sometimes years after they had already been in the US — and terrible marketing, the NES flopped in Great Britain. As we know, it took the US by storm, so its lack of success in Great Britain didn’t kill the system. Sadly, every hero dies, and Wario’s Woods’ release was the last breath for one of the greatest systems of all-time.
