Every Year She Honors Mom Who Beat Cancer, Donates Girl Scout Cookies to Cancer Patients
The Girl Scouts are known for many things. They teach leadership, responsibility and empathy, among many other skills and qualities needed in life.
And let’s not forget how much we love cookie season. One box? Two? How about 20? With so many classic flavors, who can resist stocking up on the delicious treats?
Besides, it’s pretty much impossible to say no to the girls behind the sale. Whether they come to your door or stand outside your local Walmart, there’s no denying Girl Scouts are the salespeople we don’t mind seeing.
“Never underestimate the power of a G.I.R.L.” Truer words have never been posted, and anyone who’s ever been a Girl Scout would probably agree.
Though small, Girl Scouts are mighty, and they can always be seen lending a hand in their local communities.
One 10-year-old Girl Scout from O’Fallon, Missouri has recently been recognized for her “go-getter” leadership skills.
While others her age might be more concerned about trips to the beach during their summer vacations, Madison Wolf is focused on remaining indoors.
And with good reason, too. Madison’s mom had cancer. It’s because of her family’s experience that this young lady wants to do good for those undergoing treatment.
“My mom had cancer, and I like to bring a smile to people and it always makes me happy,” Madison shared in an interview with her local Fox News station.
But there’s more to Madison’s desire to make cancer patients smile than some might expect. It turns out she puts her own money toward some of the cookie purchases.
In addition, she’s not afraid to speak up, and she asks other people to donate cookies for her cause.
Her mother and father are very proud of their daughter. They even helped Fox News and First Bank deliver a “Pay it Forward” award to the thoughtful girl.
The look on her face says it all. Madison never expects anything in return, even when the patients at Siteman Cancer Center offer her money.
The $500 gift card is certainly well-deserved. We need more people like Madison Wolf in the world. It’s clear a little cookie-love goes a long way, indeed.
