Woman Overjoyed After Finding Mystery Owner of Marine Corps Ring She Found on Vacation
Vacation is a time to sit back and relax. Long walks on the beach and extended naps are just a couple things all travelers look forward to.
The last thing you want to worry about is having to visit your hotel’s lost and found bin. But it happens, and sadly many items lost on vacation are never recovered.
Precious valuables get stolen or left under the bed for the maids to find. Thankfully the only things I’ve ever left behind on vacation were a camera battery and a few articles of clothing.
I’m not sure what I would do with myself if I misplaced something more expensive like my laptop or my wedding ring.
A day at the beach could have ended sadly for the owner of a Marine Corps ring. Sand is, after all, unforgiving when it comes to hiding small items.
Lose something at the beach and the likelihood is that you’ll never see it again. But thanks to a woman from Georgia, an item once lost has been found.
Suzanne Davis Rogers was vacationing with family and friends at Siesta Key Beach in Florida when she happened upon something shiny.
She immediately snatched up the PLT 1041 Marine Corps ring and posted photos of it on Twitter and Facebook.
“Friends will you please share this post?!” her Facebook post on July 22 reads. “I found a Marine Corps ring on Siesta Key Beach today in Florida. I’m hoping to find the owner before we leave this week!”
The post featured photos of the ring from all angles. Though she was on vacation, Rogers was determined to find the ring’s owner.
Friends shared the lost and found post over 1,000 times! Everyone wanted to help Rogers on her special quest.
Thankfully, it only took a couple of days to track the owner down. The man’s name is “Jamie,” according to Rogers and he doesn’t have a Facebook profile.
Still, somehow the two were able to connect, and Rogers was able to put the ring back on the right hand.
According to Rogers, Jaime is a “super sweet guy.” She even bought him a beer and played pool with him.
Her updated celebration post features Rogers next to Jaime. The caption claims the pair “are totally best friends now.”
What a happy ending to what looked like a fun vacation. We’re glad the ring’s owner was found. No doubt Jaime is grateful for his new best friend’s willingness to seek him out.
