Teen Runs Back into Raging House Fire When She Realizes 4-Year-Old Brother Is Still Inside
Bravery. Selflessness. Sacrificial love. These are just a few of the qualities we might name when describing some of our heroes.
One heroine from Chicago put her own life in serious danger when she thought about another instead of herself.
When a fire starts, everything becomes pure chaos. The smoke makes it hard to breathe and the flames grow so hot that all you want to do is get out and away.
That’s exactly what 19-year-old Tatianna Wilson of Greater Grand Crossing did when a fire started in her home at around 4:53 a.m. on May 16, according to WGN-TV.
Sharon Aikens told WBBM-TV that a total of 10 people, as well as two dogs, were inside when the fire began.
Wilson got outside and was safe, as was her sister Erickia Johnson. But then Wilson realized someone was missing — her 4-year-old brother, Davarion Wilson.

The teen could have waited for emergency responders to arrive. Instead, she did something that could have taken her life.
According to the report by WBBM-TV, Wilson ran back into the house to find Davarion and bring him to safety. Thankfully, both she and the boy made it back out alive.
“I feel like she’s a hero, because she didn’t have to do that,” Johnson told WBBM-TV. “She could have just left out of the house, and tried to protect herself, but she’d rather risk her life for others.”
Aikens agreed. “She’s a hero,” she shared with the news outlet. “She was very brave to go back in there and risk herself getting burnt to just help her brother get out.”
While Wilson and Davarion survived, they are reportedly both in critical condition. They were taken to separate hospitals where they are being treated.
The cause of the fire has not been divulged at this time. Authorities are investigating. In the meantime, please pray for these young people and their families.
Commenters on social media have expressed their heartfelt concern as well. “This is what ‘hero’ means,” one person tweeted. “God bless you AND your family, dear girl…”
