Teacher Stops Life for Former Student, Watches Newborn in Car While Mom Applies for Job

Share

Teachers aren’t given enough credit for the incredible jobs they do. Their work reaches far beyond the classroom.

These men and women dedicate their lives to their students, often working into all hours of the nights and weekends to plan lessons and prepare activities.

LaShonda Carter is a teacher in Chicago at Excel Academy. This woman has a heart of gold when it comes to loving on her students.

With back-to-school season upon us, Carter decided to post a Facebook live video entitled “The Heart of an Educator.”

In the video, Carter addresses parents as a parent herself. She encourages them to sit down with their children’s teachers at the start of the school year.

I love how she discusses having a “constant flow of communication” between parent and teacher, making sure everyone is aware of any struggles the student may be having from the start.

“If I don’t know what’s going on as an educator, I cannot effectively meet the needs of your child,” she says. Great advice and so true!

Carter further emphasizes her heart for students in a video lovingly named “The Heart of [an] Educator Pt. 2.”

While Carter was on her own in part 1, part 2 features a very special guest who’s only 5 weeks old. But the baby isn’t hers.

Watch as this teacher shares with her followers exactly why she’s sitting in a car holding a sleeping baby girl. Her reason will melt your heart and make you appreciate all that educators do.

Carter’s love for this former student couldn’t be made clearer. She dropped everything just so the mom could make it to a job fair.

She goes on to ask her followers to donate clothes and baby items to help the baby and her mama make it through some tough times.

“I’m gonna do what I can, as much as I can, as an educator, but I know that I can’t do it all by myself.”

Carter then invites viewers to private message her if they wish to reach out and help with a donation. A GoFundMe campaign has also been started.

“I have watched the world become that village that it takes to raise a child,” Carter told USA Today following the love she’s received in response to her viral video.

What an amazing woman! No doubt her former student feels truly blessed to have someone like Carter in her life.
