Sweet Shelter Dog Says Thank You to Owner on First Car Ride Home
So many animals are in need of good and loving homes. For whatever reason, they are abused or abandoned, just waiting for a place to call their own.
According to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) “6.5 million companion animals enter shelters every year.”
This number presents a huge demand, and there are always more pets than there are people to care for them.
But for many a fortunate fur ball, the perfect owner shows up to provide them with a warm bed and a full belly.
One woman rescued a dog whom she says reached for her hand while she was seeking help for a number of abandoned canines.
“It broke my heart that he’d been neglected,” she wrote of the dog who reached out. “[He]… was dying and wasn’t mad at me but grateful.”
She decided to rescue the sweet pup. As she drove him to safety, she recorded their interaction on camera.
The video has since gone viral, being viewed over 500,000 times to date! Once you see this, you will understand why.
These two clearly have a close bond already. Watch as the dog paws at the driver’s arm while she cries heartfelt tears over his gratitude.
“I started to cry and again,” the caption reads. “His focus shifted from himself to now my needs. I couldn’t believe so much love came from an animal that literally just came from a situation like he was in.”
How sweet! She was crying. I was crying. This video was certainly a tear-jerker, but it’s not the first pet rescue clip to bring out the waterworks.

This frozen puppy was found in a Florida river. The sweet shivering pooch was affectionately named “River” for obvious reasons.
I love how gentle the police officers in the video are. This just goes to show that first responders take rescues very seriously, even when those rescues involve a small, helpless animal.
