Sweet Pit Bull Found Abandoned in Street, Then Rescuers Meet Owner Who Didn't Want Her

Share

National Pet Adoption Weekend is coming up again in September. Every quarter, PetSmart Charities hosts the event, with the help of animal welfare organizations.

This is an amazing, weekend-long event that encourages people to come out and adopt a new pet.

“Thanks to pet lovers just like you, we’ve helped save over 8 million pets through adoption,” the PetSmart Charities website says.

Adoption is a beautiful thing. So many animals are in need of good, loving homes. Adoption opens the door for pet lovers to find their perfect pet match and do something good in the process, too.

A pit bull affectionately known as “Cinnamon” was found abandoned by the Hope for Paws animal rescue organization.

According to a video on YouTube posted by Hope for Paws, they had received a call that Cinnamon had been abandoned by her previous owners.

Apparently they decided to move and leave their precious dog to fend for herself. When the rescuers showed up on the scene, they were able to lure her to safety with treats.

But as the two rescuers put Cinnamon in the car, ready to take her to shelter, a bystander showed up and engaged in conversation.

What she had to say surprised the rescuers. Watch as she explains exactly how Cinnamon ended up abandoned in the first place.

The bystander admitted she owned the sweet dog before the most recent owners abandoned her.

Cinnamon is a breed many are afraid of, the former owner explained. She shared that the pup was “very playful” and used to knock her kids down in the yard.

It’s understandable that this woman wouldn’t be able to give the pit bull a good home, but so sad that the people she gave the dog to left her on the street instead of taking her to a place she could be cared for.

Thanks to the good people at Hope for Paws, Cinnamon was taken to an animal hospital. She was cleaned up, ready to find her forever home.

Once she was given medical care, Cinnamon was transferred to a pet store in Los Angeles that also houses adoptable pets.

Cinnamon and other pets across the country are in need of love and care every day. Why not go out to the next PetSmart Charities adoption event and find a pet who needs you?
