Sandra Bullock Reveals Vulnerable Moment She Decided To Adopt Second Child
Often times we see celebrities and we wonder what they care for most in the world. Is it the fame? The fortune? The fancy cars?
Hollywood stars seem to have it all. Many come off as shallow when portrayed in a certain light on social media.
So it’s a breath of fresh air when a celeb gets real and vulnerable while on camera. Such “realness” makes them feel more relatable.
When “Ocean’s 8” actress and Hollywood a-lister Sandra Bullock stepped onto the set of “The Today Show” recently, she revealed her compassionate heart for kids in need.
The “While You Were Sleeping” star is loved by friends and fans alike, so it comes as no surprise that she captured the hearts of her audience once again in her latest interview.
During a one-on-one with host Hoda Kotb, Bullock shared about adopting her son, Louis, and her daughter, Laila, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. “Katrina happened and I knew… that my child was there,” Bullock shared while choking back tears.
Kotb and Bullock have been friends for years, and it turns out their friendship blossomed when Bullock acted as an inspiration to the television show host when it came to making the decision to adopt. “You don’t even know who you inspired,” Kotb told her.
The two chatted about motherhood throughout the interview. Both women got teary-eyed more than once.
Bullock explained that her kids are her priority. “…my priorities are my kids, my kids, my kids. My family. My family. That’s it,” she said.
Kotb shares a similar sentiment. After surviving cancer and becoming infertile due to treatments, the news anchor adopted her daughter, Haley Joy.
Though Bullock and Kotb were both over 40 when they decided to adopt, the mothers didn’t let that stop them from sharing love with children who needed it. “I felt that calling at a very young age,” Bullock explained of her draw to adoption.
While fans will be flocking to theaters to see Bullock’s next blockbuster, it’s clear she’d rather be at home with her kids than at a movie premiere. She and Hotb are an inspiration to all hopeful mothers, reminding them that it’s never too late to adopt a child.
