Pentatonix and Kelly Clarkson Sing 'Grown-Up Christmas List' Together in Powerful Video
The holiday season just isn’t complete without our favorite Christmas tunes playing over the radio. Some have been around forever, so long we know all the lyrics and different versions.
One such song is “Grown-Up Christmas List.” The tune was originally recorded in 1990 by Natalie Cole, but didn’t become popular until the iconic voice of Amy Grant got behind it in 1992.
“Everyone wants to feel loved and express love at Christmas time,” Grant said in a 2016 interview with One Country. Her statement is just as true now as it was then.
“Grown-Up Christmas List” talks about the kind of gift you can’t buy at a store. The song has been recorded by many other artists over the years as well.
Michael Bublé took on the classic in 2003 as did Kelly Clarkson that very same year. There may be some debate as to who performed it better.
My vote lies with Clarkson. While Bublé’s version is classy, Clarkson drives so much emotion into everything she sings. She never fails to leave an audience in tears and bring them to their feet.
And Clarkson hasn’t forgotten the song she performed during the American Idol Holiday Special in 2003. She recorded an updated version for 2018.
But the singing sensation and judge for NBC’s “The Voice” didn’t do it alone this time. She took part in the Pentatonix holiday special perfectly entitled “A Not So Silent Night,” which aired on NBC Dec. 10.
The Backstreet Boys and Maren Morris joined in, but no performance was perhaps as moving as Clarkson’s newest take on a heartwarming classic.
Watch as she and Pentatonix unite their voices to create the ultimate version of “Grown-Up Christmas List.” You may want to grab an ugly sweater if you have one — this Christmas remake will give you chills.
This is too good not to watch more than once. Their voices blend together beautifully. After watching this, I hope they’ll sing together more often. The end result is stunning!
