Motherhood Truths: 'Save the Momma... Save the World.'

Share

For any mom who has felt tired, undone, or simply not enough, author and blogger Becky Thompson has a word for you.

Her books focus on encouraging moms right where they’re at. Relatable and real, Thompson has clearly made it her mission to love on mothers in all walks of life.

One post from her Facebook page really resonates deep down to a mother’s soul. Her words are a breath of fresh air for any mom who needs to be reminded of just how vital they are.

“There was a show on TV when I first got married called ‘Heroes,'” Thompson begins. Those of us who have been around a while might remember the show’s popular tagline: “Save the Cheerleader… Save the World.”

It was a catchy line that drew in plenty of fans. We all wanted to know why the cheerleader in this story was so important.

Thompson suggests this line can be applied in real life. If you haven’t guessed it yet, she changes just one word, making everything come into focus.

“I find myself thinking of that line when I think of the ministry God has given me to speak to the hearts of women and moms,” she says. “Save the momma… save the world. Because it’s true.”

Thompson goes on to share her thoughts on why the mom plays such an important role in her own world. In her own family.

“If God can reach and heal and inspire and breathe life over the heart of the Momma…” Thompson shares. “He can impact her whole family.”

“If you want to see the NEXT generation saved, start with the parents in this generation. Save the mom,” she continues.

Her words are so powerful. This woman has clearly been blessed with the gift of encouragement. The way she talks about how raising the next generation makes a real impact is inspiring.

“Mommas… We are not just raising kids. We are raising mothers and fathers. We are leading and loving and tucking into bed future parents, businessmen, doctors, scientists, creatives, and leaders.

“No one… no one has more influence on the world than we do as we love the kids God has put into our homes and families.”

“Think you’re just making sandwiches and checking homework and getting them to and from dance class and karate?” Thompson asks. “Nah. You’re changing everything about what will happen on earth next.”

In the end, this author and mom says, “And that… that right there is why it is so crucial for your heart to be cared for. So, pause with me for a second. Take a gauge on your emotional wellness. Then, repeat after me.”

The prayer she shares is short, simple, and speaks right to the heart. She invites moms to ask for peace, patience and hope and joy amidst the stress — something any mom will probably admit she certainly needs. I know I do.
