Kelly Clarkson Loses It When Age 16 Loretta Lynn-Obsessed Singer Wins 'The Voice'
There are plenty of singing competitions out there, but NBC’s “The Voice” is arguably the most coveted. Now the show’s 15th season has come to a close, bringing with it an exciting victory.
One of the best things about this series is that the contestants aren’t the only ones competing. The judges are up against one another too, and boy, do they know how to bring it.
Kelly Clarkson is known to be loud and proud when it comes to those she coaches. It seems she has every reason to be, given a member of her team took the trophy again in 2018.
This marks Clarkson’s second season bringing up a champ. Though Chevel Shepherd is just 16 years old, she has a voice Clarkson noted was “like Dolly'” during the girl’s blind audition.
When she was crowned the victor during the season finale on Dec. 19, the crowd cheered, but no one more than Clarkson herself.
Both Shepherd and runner-up Chris Kroeze waited in anticipation. When Shepherd’s name was called, Clarkson leapt onto the stage. The “wow” in the coach’s expression is undeniable.

This victory marks a milestone for Clarkson, particularly because it is the first time a country singer who did not have Blake Shelton as a coach has won.
“It’s so hard to one, get country people on your team if you’re not Blake Shelton,” Clarkson shared with Entertainment Tonight. “No one’s ever beat him with a country artist.”
“I’m very blessed,” Shepherd expressed during the same interview. The teen debuted an original song during the finale — “Broken Hearts” is still currently #1 on iTunes.
“People loved it,” Clarkson noted to Entertainment Tonight. “I’m excited.” And she should be. It’s a big moment for both coach and student.

Shepherd walks away from “The Voice” with $100,000, a recording contract and a bright country singing future ahead of her.
Clarkson expressed her thanks on Twitter to all who voted. “…from a girl whose life was changed by this simple act [of voting], I just wanna say thank you for taking the time & being a fan!” Clarkson wrote.
