Here's How You Can Help Jayme Closs

Share

The horrific details that have unfolded following the discovery of 13-year-old Jayme Closs are perhaps some of the worst we’ve heard since the Elizabeth Smart case.

After 88 days of captivity living with the man who killed Jayme’s parents with a shotgun, the frightened but brave girl found the will to escape.

Since the day she found Jeanne Nutter walking her dog, Jayme has received the love and support of her community and beyond.

“As a family we will get through all of the healing process Jayme has,” her godmother, Jennifer Smith, shared on Facebook on Jan. 12.

“It will be a long road but we are family strong and we love this little girl so much!!” she continued. “We will do anything and everything!!”

Photos shared within days of Jayme’s escape/rescue show the young teen with a big smile on her precious face.

A Facebook page has been set up called “Healing for Jayme Closs.” It’s a place where followers can find updates on Jayme’s journey.

According to KARE, thousands have reached out to the family, offering their support and asking for ways they can help.

“She (Jennifer Smith) said she wanted all of you to know how much the family appreciates your support,” Julie Nelson of KARE shared on Facebook.

And there are ways you can support this young woman as she is finally allowed to take the time she needs to grieve the deaths of her parents. The road to recovery from the trauma she has experienced will be a long one.

For anyone interested in donating, a GoFundMe campaign has been established. You can easily make a donation online to help this family cover everything Jayme needs.

And for those wishing to get a little more personal with their giving, an address has been provided by Jennifer Smith.

“Here’s the PO Box where you can send gifts or cards,” Nelson said. “Light the Way Home for Jayme Closs (at) P.O. Box 539 Rice Lake, WI 54868.”

Willing hearts are invited to send distractions for Jayme such as books, magazines, arts, crafts, DVDs and even clothes.

Jayme is a women’s size small and her godmother shared her favorite colors are blue and green. No doubt we’ll be seeing lots of wonderful gifts showered on this sweet girl in days to come.
