Famous Celebrity Chrissy Metz Doesn't Care If Believing in God Is 'Uncool'

Share

The staff of The Western Journal is working a reduced schedule over Easter weekend to allow our employees the opportunity for rest and worship with their families if they so choose. We are re-publishing this article as a service to our readers, who reacted strongly to it when it first ran.

It’s truly an inspiration to anyone who walks by faith when a celebrity in the spotlight shares openly about their beliefs.

Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate on NBC’s hit television series “This is Us,” hasn’t shied away from a bold openness regarding her faith in God.

Oh, hey weekend!

Though the pressure of a secular Hollywood may be paramount, Metz keeps her priorities in focus when it comes to sharing what’s most important in life.

“We all have to have a foundation,” Metz shared in an interview with The Christian Post. “A house isn’t built properly without a foundation, and whether that’s your faith, or whatever you believe in, you have to believe in something.”

For those of us who have laughed and cried over Metz’s storyline in “This is Us,” just wait until you see the new trailer for her upcoming film, “Breakthrough.”

“It’s an amazing true story about the power of prayer and the power of love,” she shared in a sneak peek on Instagram. “It’ll be in theaters all around the world this Easter.”

The 2019 release is based on the amazing true story of Joyce Smith and her son John. Hillsong’s “Oceans” is featured in the official trailer along with plenty of tearjerking moments.

“When I was given the gift of even reading the script, I was so moved by it, because we’re all looking for something greater than ourselves,” Metz said of the film.

“It is hard I think, now, to just be really vocal about your faith… because people want to think ‘it’s not cool,’ but I’m like, I don’t care! I have to do what I have to do for me, and I know that the only person that shows up for me time and time again, is God, and is that higher power that’s greater than myself,” the actress shared.

“So I have to honor that. Not because I have to, because I want to, even though people might think it’s the uncool thing to do. For me, there’s no question about it.”

“When we’re different, we feel it,” she went on, “but I think that when people are strong in their convictions, it can really persuade people to think differently just as the movie’s going to do.”

Inspiring words from an inspiring woman. “Breakthrough” hits theaters on April 17, 2018. Don’t miss this amazing film about miracles and the undeniable power of prayer.
