Dad Prepared To Sell House To Pay for Daughter's Vital Operation, Then Strangers Pay for Her Surgery

Father’s Day comes around once a year, but one day is certainly not enough for some super dads who would do anything for their children.

In fact, for one father from the U.K., Father’s Day ought to be every day after what he was willing to give up for his daughter.

Ffion Jones is only 13, so her recent scoliosis diagnosis was heartbreaking for her family. The procedure to have it fixed would cost thousands — money her dad Jonathan Jones didn’t have.

“My heart sank and my stomach churned like any parent would when I found out the news,” Jones told Wales Online. “I felt helpless.”

It turns out not only was the procedure expensive, but Ffion would have to be put on a waiting list for a waiting list, leaving her condition to worsen.

“We found a hospital in Cardiff which can do the operation, but it is a lot of money, it’s going to cost £27,000 (about $30,905),” the distraught father said.

So he did what he had to. He started a crowdfunding campaign and put his house and car up for sale, hoping to raise enough to bypass the waiting lists and have the operation done as soon as possible.

Have you ever donated to a crowdfunding campaign?

Thankfully, help came sooner than they thought. The campaign raised the £27,000 and then some, making 2018 the best Christmas ever for Ffion and her family.

“I am blessed with the most amazing friends!!” Jones wrote on Facebook. He posted a photo of his happy daughter who will now be able to get the care she needs.

“On Thursday we had raised just under £500, two days later we had £27,000 worth of donations, my phone was going crazy with donations, I am gob smacked, it doesn’t feel real,” Jones told Wales Online.

“I was determined to raise the money but I never expected it to happen this fast.” he said. What a wonderful Christmas miracle for this girl and her dad who was willing to give up everything.

This just goes to show that a lot of people giving a little bit can really go a long way. Next time you think your $10 can’t make a difference, think of Ffion Jones. A miracle like hers is certainly one worth being a part of.
