Candace Cameron Bure Finally Writes Book That's Been on Her Heart for 20 Years

Share

You might know her as the sweetheart of “Fuller House.” Maybe you grew up watching her grow up on “Full House.” Or perhaps you simply know her as Kirk Cameron’s baby sister.

However you’re familiar with Candace Cameron Bure, it’s almost certain you know how much she values family.

Growing up in the spotlight as part of one of the most recognized TV families around, Bure had to learn how to balance fame with real-life.

Down-to-earth, as ever, DJ Tanner seems just as sweet in real life as she does onscreen. She’s authored several books in which she addresses topics relating to confidence, courage and kindness.

Though writing isn’t new to the lifetime actress, she recently reached a lifelong goal that has her beaming from ear to ear.

“Long before becoming a New York Times bestselling author, I dreamt of writing children’s books you’d want to read to your littles,” she wrote on Twitter.

Her first ever children’s book, “Candace Center Stage,” has been 20 years in the making. “Even though this is my sixth book, it’s like my first dream come true,” she told TODAY.

“Ever since I had my daughter Natasha, my favorite thing to do was to read to my children,” she continued. “And almost every night, in bed or cuddling on the couch, whatever, I just would read and use funny voices and accents. It was just a silly time.”

Now those children are almost grown. With her youngest being 16, Bure is already feeling some apprehension about “empty-nest syndrome.”

“It’s crazy to me that in a year or two we will not have children at home anymore,” she told TODAY. “And I feel like no one talks about that…”

Though it’s strange to think of her kids not living at home, Bure also discussed the “peace” she feels about sending them on their way because of how they’ve been raised.

“I feel like, ‘Hey, I think we’ve done a pretty good job that you guys get to go out and live and do your thing and make a mark on the world. So that part encourages me a lot,” she said.

“Candace Center Stage” is available wherever books are sold. To keep up with Bure and her latest projects, you can follow her on Instagram or Twitter.
