During 6-Hour Flight Delay, Dance Group Cheers Up Angry Passengers Stuck in Terminal
There’s no problem a little dance and music medicine can’t solve. Just ask the passengers waiting for a delayed flight at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
Quite the flight delay treat has gone viral recently, but this isn’t the first time dancers got “funky” in an airport terminal.
In 2017, an airport employee was caught dancing on the tarmac while a plane taxied past him. Someone from the plane caught him on camera, and the footage is hilarious.
In June, 7-year-old Preston Richards had a dance-off with a TSA agent at Orlando International Airport right after the boy won a dance competition.
ABC World News reported the agent and the boy were caught “flossing,” a popular dance move that’s become all the hype on social media.
Then there are the classic and unexpected flash mobs. Dancers pose as regular people, but when the music plays over the speakers those regular people suddenly transform.
In 2011, the Community-Minded Dance group performed to classic swing music in the middle of Denver International Airport.
But nothing quite compares to the newest viral airport dancing video from the “Funkywunks” dance group.
According to a Facebook post by the Funkywunks on Sept. 7, their flight had been delayed for six long hours.
“Many angry and tired passengers,” their post reads. “Sooooo Funkywunks sprung into action to do what we do BEST!!!”
The dance group appeared during season 2 of NBC’s “World of Dance,” KLRD reported. The group consists of 11 talented individuals who just can’t seem to sit still for very long.
This was made clear when the Funkywunks took it upon themselves to cheer up the angry and tired passengers. After all, what else was there to do?
Their impromptu performance was caught on video. Watch as they dance to a remix of Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk.”
I wish I had been there to see this. The flight delay might not have bothered me so much then. In fact, I would have called for an encore.
Smiles and cheers can be heard and seen from the crowd when the group finishes. I wouldn’t be surprised if some people even requested selfies and autographs afterward.
Flight delays can be daunting, and a six-hour wait would certainly be frustrating. But again, there’s nothing a little Funkywunk dancing to “Uptown Funk” can’t fix. Try saying that three times fast!
