Mom Rejects Child Because of Deformed Skin. But Grandpa Refuses to Give Up on Baby
After a sweet baby girl was abandoned by her parents in Western India, her grandfather stepped up in the most remarkable way.
Nothing was unusual about the pregnancy itself. All the normal milestones were met, and all check-ups went well.
But the child was born extremely prematurely at seven months and weighed a mere two pounds. She probably would not have survived if it wasn’t for her grandfather taking over the situation.
Apparently, the abandoned baby was rejected due to her extremely wrinkly skin. Doctors have stated that the wrinkly skin is most likely due to Uterine Growth Retardation and chromosomal abnormality.
According to the child’s grandfather, Dilip Dode, when news of the baby’s condition spread throughout their village, the parents were extremely ashamed and embarrassed.
People had different reactions to her, though most of those reactions were negative. Some onlookers were worried they would catch a disease from the helpless baby.
The shaming that Mamata and Ajay Dode experienced over their daughter was too much for them. Both 25, they had another daughter already, and were not prepared for the challenges their new child faced.
The parents began neglecting the vulnerable child and even refused to feed her, effectively handing her a death sentence.
That’s when Dode stepped in to take responsibility for the unnamed child.
He fed her goat milk from a spoon until she gained some signs of health. He then took her to a hospital.
An update stated that the child was still in recovery in the hospital with her devoted grandfather by her side.
However, the parents still refuse to visit their ailing child. While they may see her condition as something to be ashamed of, in the eyes of her loving grandfather, this child is absolute perfection.
When asked about the parents, Dode responded, “I will try to convince her parents to accept her, but if they still refuse, I will raise her up myself.
“It is not her fault to have born different, and I will not throw her [away] for this disease…It is really disheartening that even her parents have rejected her, but I will go to any extent to save her.”
This kind man is showing his granddaughter the unconditional love and devotion she deserves. Until the baby recovers, the hospital has agreed to cover the baby’s medical costs.
The hospital CEO pledged to help these two: “We are determined to treat the baby and hopefully after all the test results come we would start the treatment… We will keep this baby in the hospital for a long time.”
