Thieves Return Box with Apology Note After Finding Out It Belonged to 5-Year-Old with Brain Tumor
When a child receives a cancer diagnosis, the news hits like the proverbial wrecking ball. It tears through life’s foundations, leaving pure devastation in its wake.
But do you know what would make such a situation even worse? Stealing that child’s prized personal possession.
According to KOMO, that was exactly what happened to little Timmy Vick. A Delaware resident, Timmy absolutely loves professional wrestling.
He has even collected replicas of World Wrestling Entertainment championship belts. With their shiny gold plates and glittering faux gemstones, the collection was likely the boy’s pride and joy.
However, Timmy had multiple medical issues. For one thing, he was autistic.
For another, he needed surgery to treat a brain tumor. And there was only one thing that would soothe him: his WWE belts.
In fact, WrestlingINC.com reported that Timmy was about to get something far more special. An artist from Edgewood, Washington, named Serg More wanted to craft the belts into an entirely unique piece.
So Timmy’s parents sent the belts to him. More was ready to work his magic, but he was stopped before he could even get started.
No sooner had the packaged belts arrived on his porch than they disappeared. A pair of women had simply strolled up and swiped them, along with several other packages delivered to his front porch.
You can imagine the devastation that Timmy must’ve felt. The theft surely broke More’s heart on the boy’s behalf.
He posted video of the theft on Facebook, writing, “Mother and daughter team stealing from my porch while I am at show.” The video showed a young teenager and an older woman hustling up to his front door.
They quickly grabbed the packages and ran off-camera. It didn’t take long for the story to develop legs.
Local news sources picked it up and even interviewed young Timmy on camera. Then something amazing happened.
The box reappeared. The thieves had experienced a change of heart.
According to a video More posted on YouTube, the two ladies drove back up to the house and returned the belts to More, saying they were sorry and claiming they were homeless and had fallen on rough times.
“We are so sorry for taking your stuff. Never in a million years would I have expected I would have stolen from a sick five year old,” a note accompanying the box said.
“I am ashamed of what I did.” The police still want to speak with the thieves, but the good news is that Timmy finally has his beloved belts back.
