Prince William Drops Major Hint About Royal Baby's Name

Share

Now that the wait is over and the third royal baby has made his way into the world, royal fans are chomping at the bit yet again as they anxiously await the announcement of his name.

When Prince George and Princes Charlotte were born, their names were announced two days after their arrival. However, it appears this is not the case with their youngest sibling.

The baby is fifth in line for the throne after Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.

Many speculate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are waiting for Prince Charles to return from France to meet his newest grandson before the big announcement.

But in the meantime, plenty others have put in their guesses and bets for the name of the newest addition to the family.

The strongest contenders include Alexander, Arthur, Albert, and James.

As Prince William arrived at the Anzac Day of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey on April 25, he was soon inundated with questions about the baby.

William told the crowd the newborn was doing “very well” adjusting, and that “sleeping’s going reasonably well so far, so he’s behaving himself, which is good.”

Soon, someone in the crowd asked if the name would be Alexander, which is Prince George’s middle name. Further, Queen Elizabeth’s middle name is Alexandra, and Prince Philip’s grandfather was named Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg.

Prince William replied, “Funny you should say that,” leaving us all wondering if he’d just hinted at the name they’ve chosen.

Later in the day, William was heard speaking about the baby with Sir Jerry Mateparae, New Zealand High Commissioner to the U.K.

Soon, the Dean of Westminster joked that “Jerry would like it to be Jerry,” to which the prince responded, “Jerry’s a strong name.”

So, what do you think the newest royal baby’s name will be?
