Oprah Hid Money All Over Hotel Room That Housekeeper Must Clean to Find
Oprah Winfrey is a name nearly synonymous with generosity. She is definitely no stranger to sharing her wealth with the most deserving people.
Recently, one of her random acts of giving has caught the attention of the world again, and for good reason.
Oprah’s mother, grandmother, and great grandmother all worked as maids throughout their lifetimes.
As Oprah worked her way up to fame and wealth through the years, she never forgot where she came from.
The talk show host knows that tipping hotel housekeepers is a must, just as it is for a waitress at a restaurant.
Both jobs depend upon those tips, and yet, many often forget or do not know that tipping housekeepers is essential.
So in typical Oprah fashion, the media mogul found a creative way to leave a tip at a hotel and make an unsuspecting housekeeper’s day.
“People never leave money for the housekeepers,” she said in an interview. “So I always try to do something nice for the maids.”
“I usually just leave the money on the pillow,” she continued. But this time, she decided to make the hotel housekeeper’s day just a bit more special.
“I thought ‘What if its all over the room and every time she picks up a thing there’s another, and there’s another, and there’s another, and there’s another?
“So I did that. I did it all over the room. I put it under the desk, I put it in the bathroom, I put it in the roll of toilet paper, I put it in the shower — just imagine how happy that person was.”
“As I was leaving, I was like, ‘Somebody is going to be happy today, yes!’”
And making others happy in a big way is something Oprah has made a frequent effort to do for more than 30 years.
“Nothing makes me happier than to see other people in their purest moments of joy,” she said.
“Sometimes, honest to goodness, I’m just sitting around thinking, ‘What could I do to make somebody feel really good today?’
“To be able to do that for somebody, that’s one of the great joys of my life.”
While it is no surprise to see Oprah at it again, her willingness to spread not just wealth, but happiness, is an inspiration time and time again.
