Puppy Finds New Home with Peyton Manning After Being Kept in Garbage Bag by Carnie

It took a team of kindhearted people to rally around a traumatized puppy named Sunshine, who had been abandoned at a Mississippi fair.

Thanks to some all-star efforts from some key players, this tiny puppy has found her A-team.

Sunshine is now living the good life with football giant Peyton Manning and his family, who adopted her after falling in love with her irresistible puppy face.

Amid the hustle and bustle of the Neshoba County Fair was a tiny, 2-pound puppy, who was being mistreated. She’d gone undetected thus far, but Sunshine’s luck was about to change.

Sunshine likely would have been headed for an abusive road ahead, but staff from the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi happened to be at the fair that day.

They took notice of the neglected pooch and masterfully orchestrated her rescue.

According to ARF, the puppy showed signs she had been tied up way too tightly or perhaps had been shoved into a garbage bag. She was covered in fleas and had intestinal parasites.

ARF immediately sought medical treatment for the pup. They watched with relief and delight as Sunshine scarfed down plates full of delicious, nourishing food.

For a puppy who’d had such a terrifying start to life, it wasn’t long before her sunshiney disposition began to really show.

Once the puppy was on her way to recovery, ARF staff sought a nearby foster home for the little lass.

As Sunshine settled into her foster home, “she was loved and doted on by all, met many friends and neighbors, including Peyton Manning’s family,” according to a Facebook post by ARF.

Manning’s wife and kids fell in love with the precious puppy, and the rest is pretty much history.

When the Manning family learned that Sunshine was officially up for adoption, they stepped in and asked to be her forever family.

“She is now a Manning and will live life large with this superstar family,” ARF staff member Pippa Jackson wrote on Facebook.

Now that she’s been officially drafted into the big leagues, it sounds like Sunshine may be getting a new name.

A few fans have suggested they call her “Omaha,” but according to PEOPLE, the Manning kids are considering the name Livvy.
